
Michigan State Falls Short at No. 10 Illinois, 71-68

Champaign, Ill. – Michigan State's men's basketball fought back from a seven-point deficit late in the game but fell short in a 71-68 loss to No. 10 Illinois at State Farm Center on Thursday night.
Graduate guard Tyson Walker scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures, while senior guard A.J. Hoggard had 16 points and three assists, graduate forward Malik Hall added 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists and junior guard Jaden Akins finished with 13 points and five rebounds.
Records
Michigan State falls to 9-7 overall and 1-4 in the Big Ten Conference, while Illinois improves to 12-3 overall and 3-1 in league play.

- The Spartans had trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half, but came back to take a six-point lead early in the second half before pushed ahead late in the game.
