Michigan State Uses Second Half Run to Beat Rutgers, 73-55

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's basketball team used a 19-0 run midway through the second half to break open a close game as the Spartans beat Rutgers, 73-55, on Sunday afternoon at the Breslin Center.
Graduate forward Malik Hall added 15 points and had six rebounds and two assists to lead the Spartans, while graduate guard Tyson Walker added 13 points and four assists.
Junior guard Jaden Akins finished with nine points and four rebounds and senior guard A.J. Hoggard had 7 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
Graduate guard Steven Izzo, the son of MSU Head Coach Tom Izzo, scored his first collegiate points with a jumper and the ensuing free throw in the waning seconds of the game.
Records
Michigan State improves to 10-7 overall and 2-4 in the Big Ten Conference, while Rutgers falls to 9-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.
