
Forsyth and Hough Named Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Athletes to Watch

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State track & field athletes Rachel Forsyth and Riley Hough were named Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Athletes to watch, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Forsyth is coming off stellar cross country season where she was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, along with earning Great Lakes Region Women's Runner of the Year honors. With her 21st place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, she earned first-team All-American honors.
Forsyth continued her strong first season at MSU by breaking a school record in her first collegiate indoor meet. She finished 12th in the 3000m with a time of 8:59.4. She broke Spartan great Rachel Schulist's record of 9:01.25, which was set in 2015. She was eighth among collegiate performers.
Hough, a native of Hartland, Michigan, also had a strong cross country season, representing the Michigan State men as an at-large bid in the men's 10k race. In his first NCAA Championship, he had a strong showing finishing 80th with a time of 29:47.2.
Last season, Hough had a breakout track & field season, finishing sixth in the 5000m with a time of 14:09.04. He also had a second-place finish in the mile at the Badger's Windy City Invite with a time of 4:03.36.
The Spartans are back in action in the New Year, traveling to the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Jan. 11.
