
Gymnastics Ranked No. 11 in WCGA Preseason Poll

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State gymnastics opens the 2025 season ranked No. 11 in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Preseason Poll, the organization announced Tuesday.Â
MSU's No. 11 ranking marks its fifth-straight appearance in the preseason poll, which ranks the top 36 teams prior to the start of each season. The Spartans have earned a top-15 preseason ranking in each of the last three seasons. Â
The Spartans are one of 11 Big Ten teams in the poll. Conference newcomer UCLA earned the highest ranking in the league at No. 10, followed by MSU, No. 13 Michigan, No. 16 Ohio State, No. 18 Minnesota, No. 21 Penn State, No. 22 Illinois, No. 23 Nebraska, No. 24 Maryland, No. 26 Washington and No. 29 Iowa. Rutgers received 15 votes.Â
In addition, four of MSU's 2025 non-conference opponents are ranked in the poll – No. 3 Florida, No. 4 Cal, No. 6 Alabama and No. 36 North Carolina.Â
Last season, the Spartans captured their second-straight Big Ten regular season title, going a perfect 9-0 in conference action before winning the program's first Big Ten Championship crown in front of a sold-out Jenison Field House crowd on March 23. MSU also advanced to its third-straight NCAA Regional Final.Â
MSU returns six of its seven All-B1G honorees from last season, including NCAA Championship qualifiers Skyla Schulte and Nikki Smith. Schulte won MSU's first Big Ten all-around title and collected Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Championships to become the first two-time NCAA All-American in program history.Â
The Spartans host their annual Green and White Meet on Saturday, Dec. 14 at Jenison Field House at 1 p.m. MSU's 2025 season officially begins on Saturday, Jan. 4 in a dual meet against Western Michigan, set for 4 p.m. at Jenison Field House.Â
