EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State gymnastics opened the 2025 season on Saturday with its annual Green and White exhibition meet at Jenison Field House.
"We're so thrilled for what this team put together and left out on the floor this afternoon," said head coach Mike Rowe. "The bar had been set high since last season and we've been inching it higher at every milestone they've reached. This is the most routines we've put up at a Green and White intrasquad ever and every one of them brought it today. "11 vaults, 13 bar routines, 17 beam and 12 floor routines made it a great opportunity for us to get them all in front of the fans and judges."
Junior Nikki Smith won the all-around title, followed by senior Skyla Schulte in second and senior Gabrielle Stephen in third.
Kicking off the meet, junior Sage Kellerman won the vault title, while Stephen and junior Olivia Zsarmani finished in a tie for second.
Fifth-year senior Delanie Harkness finished first on bars. Kellerman captured her second podium finish of the day on the event, finishing in a tie for second with Schulte.
On beam, fifth-year senior Giana Kalefe finished first, followed by a debuting Cady Duplissis in second. Smith, Stephen and sophomore Gabi Ortiz finished in a tie for third.
Schulte, Stephen and Harkness ended the day with podium finishes on floor, with Schulte claiming the event title and Stephen and Harkness finishing in a tie for second place.
"A special thanks to all of our families and fans that showed up for our largest Green and White turnout also, even with the students being off on holiday break," said Rowe. "Today put us in a great starting place to get back in the gym and hone in on even more details to have us ready for Western Michigan on January 4th."
MSU officially opens the 2025 season on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Jenison Field House in a dual meet against Western Michigan at 4 p.m.
