ROSEMONT, Ill. - For the third time in 2024, Michigan State sophomore gymnast Sage Kellerman was named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.Â
With her trio of Specialist of the Week awards, Kellerman ties Minnesota's Mya Hooten for the most by a gymnast in the conference this season. Her award is the fourth Specialist of the Week award for the Spartans this season and eighth conference weekly award overall, the most by any school.Â
The Croswell, Michigan, native competed on vault and bars in MSU's 197.550-195.525 victory over Maryland on Feb. 18, helping MSU stay undefeated in conference action heading into the final week of the Big Ten season. She scored a 9.950 on bars to tie her career high, earning a share of the event title for her first-career bars title, while also earning a 9.875 on vault to finish second. Her 9.950 on bars helped MSU to a season-high 39.575 team score on the event, the second-best bars score in program history.Â
Kellerman ranks first in the Big Ten and NCAA on vault this season and has either ranked first or shared the top spot every week thus far. She ranks seventh in the conference on bars.Â
MSU will look to earn back-to-back Big Ten regular season titles at the Big Five Meet, hosted by Penn State, on Friday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. on Big Ten Network.Â
