Kellerman, Tucker Earn Big Ten Gymnastics Weekly Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Michigan State gymnasts Sage Kellerman and MaKayla Tucker have earned Big Ten Gymnastics weekly awards, with Kellerman earning the league's Specialist of the Week honor and Tucker being named Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
The weekly honors are the sixth and seventh for the Spartans this season, who have captured at least one conference award in four of five weeks this season. Kellerman's Specialist of the Week award is the second award of its kind for the sophomore this season and third for MSU overall, while Tucker collects the first Freshman of the Week award of her career and second for the Spartans in 2024 following Gabi Ortiz on Jan. 23. Kellerman shares this week's specialist award with Ohio State's Ella Hodges and Tucker shares her award with Minnesota's Jayden Lyden.
Kellerman, a native of Croswell, Michigan, continued her breakout season in MSU's 198.050-197.625 victory at then-No. 13 Michigan on Feb. 4, earning her second perfect 10.000 of the the season on vault to win the event title. With her 10.000, she became the first Spartan in program history to earn multiple perfect scores on the same event. Kellerman currently ranks first in the NCAA on vault this season with an average score of 9.955 and has either ranked first or shared the top spot in the country on the vault every week thus far in 2024.
Kellerman also competed on bars at Michigan, finishing in a tie for third place with a season-high 9.900.
Tucker, who hails from Fishers, Indiana, competed in three events in MSU's win at Michigan, setting career highs with scores of 9.900 or better in all three. The rookie finished third on vault with a 9.925 and scored 9.900s on beam and floor while helping the Spartans tie program highs on vault (49.575) and beam (49.600).
MSU's 198.050 at Michigan was its highest road score in program history and second-best score of all time. The Spartans' victory in Ann Arbor marked the first win over Michigan on the road since 1990.
The 10th-ranked Spartans return home on Friday, Feb. 9 to host No. 25 Illinois at 7 p.m. in Jenison Field House.
