Spartan Women's Basketball Meets the Press Ahead of NCAA Tournament

COLUMBIA, South Carolina - Michigan State's women's basketball met with the media ahead of its 90 minute practice ahead of the 2024 NCAA Tournament in Columbia South Carolina.

Spartan captains guard Moira Joiner and guard/forward Julia Ayrault both joined head coach Robyn Fralick for their media session. Fralick is the first Michigan State women's basketball coach to make the NCAA Tournament in her first season. Joiner and Ayrault are both playing in their second NCAA Tournament.

"We're thrilled to be here. What an opportunity to be playing in March Madness," Fralick said of playing in her first NCAA Tournament with MSU. "I know we're really looking forward to that. I'm proud of our group this season. I think something that stood out about us was our consistency throughout the year and throughout a really tough Big Ten Conference. So looking forward to the opportunity in front of us tomorrow.'

The No. 9-seeded Spartans will face No. 8-seeded North Carolina on Friday, March 22 at 11:30 a.m. at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina. Courtney Lyle and Carolyn Peck will be on the call for ESPN2.

The Spartans come to Columbia with a 22-8 overall record after losing in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament on March 8. The Tar Heels are 19-12 heading into the first round also falling in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.
