Kellerman, Smith Named WCGA Regular Season All-Americans

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State sophomore gymnasts Sage Kellerman and Nikki Smith earned Regular Season All-America honors from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA), as announced by the organization Thursday.Â
Kellerman and Smith, who both earned All-America designations on vault, are the first gymnasts in program history to be named Regular Season All-Americans. The pair combined for three perfect 10.000s on the event this season.Â
Kellerman collects First Team All-America honors after finishing the regular season ranked fourth in the NCAA on vault with a national qualifying score (NQS) of 9.940. The Croswell, Michigan native spent the first eight weeks of the season ranked first in the country on the event and posted eight scores of 9.900 or better throughout the regular season. She opened the season with a 10.000 on vault at the Super 16 Championships in Las Vegas, earning the first perfect score of the NCAA season on the event, and earned another 10.000 in MSU's win at Michigan on Feb. 4 to become the first MSU gymnast to record multiple perfect scores on one event in the same season.Â
Kellerman was one of MSU's four First Team All-Big Ten selections this season and finished third on vault and the Big Ten Championships.Â
Smith finished the regular season in a tie for 13th on vault (9.920 NQS) to earn Second Team All-America honors. She earned a 10.000 on the event, the second of her career, in MSU's win over New Hampshire on March 1 and also scored a 9.975 at the Big Five Meet on Feb. 23 with a 10.000/9.950 split from the judges. The West Bloomfield, Michigan native was named First Team All-Big Ten for the second-straight year this season.Â
MSU matched a program-record 49.575 team score on vault twice this season and is currently ranked fourth as a team on the event in the NCAA with an NQS of 49.465.Â
The Spartans travel to Gainesville, Florida next week to compete in the NCAA Gainesville Regional beginning Friday, April 5. MSU will face Utah, Towson and Maryland in the Second Round at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.Â
