Spartan Rowing Edged by No. 16 Indiana for Dale England Cup

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – MSU Rowing finished second in each of the six races for the Dale England Cup in a competition against No. 16 Indiana Saturday, however narrowly missing out on a few wins.
"I thought the team did a decent job of executing today," first year head coach Stacey Rippetoe said. "I think there's still a lot of room to sharpen and grow. We're going to use the next three weeks to keep getting sharper and becoming faster to finish off the year together."
Three Spartan boats finished behind the winners by small margins, including the third varsity eight that finished seven tenths of a second out of first in a photo finish at the line. While finishing third, the second varsity four finished 2.9 seconds behind the winning Hoosiers. In the feature race to conclude the day the varsity eight finished 5.4 seconds, a boat's length, from a race win.
The Spartans will next be in action next weekend at the historic Sprints in Worcester, Mass. on Sunday, May 4.
