Men’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule

East Lansing, Mich. – Highlighted by seven home games, the Champions Classic and a trip to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational, Michigan State announced its men's basketball non-conference schedule for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday afternoon.
The 11-game non-conference schedule includes seven potential opponents who played in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The Spartans will play a pair of exhibition games to start the 2024-25 season, with Head Coach Tom Izzo bringing his team to the Upper Peninsula for a game at Northern Michigan (Oct. 13), his alma mater.
MSU will host Ferris State in its second game on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
The regular season opens with a pair of games at the Breslin Center, first hosting Monmouth on Monday, Nov. 4 and then a game against Niagara on Thursday, Nov. 7.
The Spartans will travel to Atlanta for a matchup with Kansas in the Champions Classic on Tuesday, Nov. 12 before returning home for a pair of games.
MSU will host Bowling Green on Saturday, Nov. 16, which will include a visit from former Spartan great Lourawls "Tum Tum" Nairn, now an associate head coach for the Falcons. The Spartans will then host Samford on Tuesday, Nov. 19 before a trip to Hawaii.
The Spartans open play in the Maui Invitational on Monday, Nov. 25 against Colorado. The winner of that game will face either UConn or Memphis in the second round (Nov. 26) before playing one of four teams on the other side of the bracket (North Carolina, Dayton, Iowa State and Auburn) in the final game on Nov. 27.
Following a pair of Big Ten Conference games to start the month of December, Michigan State will play three more non-league games before the end of the month. MSU will visit Little Caesars Arena for its yearly matchup against in-state opponent Oakland on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
The Spartans will host Florida Atlantic on Saturday, Dec. 21. The non-league schedule closes on Monday, Dec. 30, with MSU hosting Western Michigan, coached by former Spartan great and long-time assistant coach Dwayne Stephens.
