Coen Carr Selected to Julius Erving Award Watch List

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men's basketball junior forward Coen Carr was one of 20 Division I men's basketball players selected to the watch list for the 2026 Julius Erving Award, announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Wednesday afternoon.
The annual Julius Erving Award, named after the Class of 1993 Hall of Famer and 17-year professional basketball player, celebrates its 12th year by recognizing the top small forwards in Division I men's college basketball.
One of the team's quad-captains, Carr appeared in all 37 games last season, when the Spartans won the Big Ten regular season title and reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. He finished fourth on the team in scoring with 8.1 points per game, while adding 3.6 rebounds (fourth on the team), was second on the team with 28 blocked shots and fifth in the team in minutes played (771, 20.8 per game).
Carr, who scored in double figures 12 times, shot 61.1 percent from the floor (113-of-185), including 33.3 percent (5-of-15) from 3-point land and hit 70.1 percent of his free throws (68-of-97). He averaged 7.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in Big Ten games.
During the team's postseason run, Carr averaged 10.2 points and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 55.0 percent from the floor (22-of-40), including 11.3 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 59.3 percent from the floor (16-of-27) during the NCAA Tournament. He scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds with two assists and a block against Bryant (3/21) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Carr was one of seven players from the Big Ten Conference selected to the watch list.
Michigan State opens the 2025-26 regular season on Monday, Nov. 3, hosting Colgate. The game tips off at 7 p.m. and will air live on B1G+.
