
Spartan Men’s Tennis Closes Strong Week at Lexington M15

Alazmeh leads Spartans with quarterfinal run
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men's tennis wrapped up a strong showing at the Lexington M15, highlighted by junior Taym Alazmeh leading the way with an impressive quarterfinal finish. Teammates Vuk Radjenovic and Danial Rakhmatullayev added strong performances in qualifying rounds.
Alazmeh opened play in Lexington with back-to-back straight-set victories. In the first round of singles, Alazmeh defeated Jackson Ross (USA) in a quick 6-2, 6-2 match. He advanced to the second round of singles, where he took down Andreja Petrovic (Norway) in a hard-fought, 7-5, 6-2 battle. Alazmeh made it to the quarterfinals, where he fell short against Gianluca Brunkow (USA) 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
Radjenovic started his play with a straight-set 7-5, 6-1 win over Hanamichi Carvajal Suazo (Chile). The Spartan advanced to the second round of qualifying singles, but was defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Mathis Bondaz (France).
Rakhmatullayev entered the first round of qualifying singles to battle Alexis Gurmendi (Argentina). After a hard fight, Rakhmatullayev came up short, 6-4, 6-3.
Up next, the Spartans will head to Chicago, Illinois, for the ITA Midwest Regionals, Oct. 16-20.
