Wrestling to Compete at Keystone Classic on Sunday

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State wrestling heads back to tournament action this weekend at the 29th Keystone Classic at the historic Palestra in Philadelphia on Sunday, November 23.
First whistle is set for 9:30 a.m. Live streaming and results will be available via FloWrestling.

The Field
Michigan State is joined at the Keystone Classic by 10 other programs, including Central Michigan, Drexel, Edinboro, Franklin & Marshall, Harvard, Hofstra, Lock Haven, Penn, Rutgers and Viriginia Tech. Over 200 wrestlers will be spread out over six mats throughout the day of competition. The field includes 23 wrestlers ranked by FloWrestling.
Wrestling for Michigan State in Philly will be redshirt sophomore 125-pounder #27 Caleb Weiand, redshirt junior 125-pounder Nick Corday, redshirt senior 133-pounder Andy Hampton, redshirt freshman 141-pounder Sean Larkin, freshman 141-pounder Jace Morgan, freshman 149-pounder Evans Gosz, redshirt sophomore 149-pounder Clayton Jones, redshirt freshman 157-pounder Darius Marines, redshirt junior 157-pounder Braden Stauffenberg, redshirt sophomore 165-pounder Cam Adams, graduate 165-pounder DJ Shannon, graduate 174-pounder Connor O'Neill, redshirt senior 184-pounder Ryan Boucher, redshirt freshman 184-pounder Cory Thomas, redshirt sophomore 184-pounder Luke Vanadia, redshirt junior 197-pounder Kael Wisler, redshirt sophomore heavyweight #33 Max Vanadia and redshirt junior heavyweight Josh Terrill.
Pre-Seeds
Several Spartans received pre-seeds into the bracket including top-seeded Weiand, seventh-seeded Marines, fifth-seeded Luke Vanadia, second-seeded Wisler and third-seeded Max Vanadia.
Last Time Out
Michigan State's dual season got underway last weekend at LIU and Rider where the Spartans split their opening weekend 1-1. MSU kicked off its dual season with a 34-0 triumph over LIU on Friday night where it got bonus point victories from Corday, Wisler and M. Vanadia.
The Spartans were defeated by Rider on Sunday afternoon, falling 24-16 after a comeback bid fell short. Jones got Michigan State on the board at 149 with a pin and L. Vanadia added a major decision at 184. Marines and M. Vanadia posted wins by decision at 157 and heavyweight respectively.
Next Up
Michigan State returns to dual action on Friday, December 5 when it travels to Boiling Springs, N.C. for a 6:00 p.m. dual at Gardner-Webb. MSU will turn around to face The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. on Sunday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m.
