No. 7 Gymnastics Wins Big Four Meet

CORALVILLE, Iowa – No. 7 Michigan State gymnastics wrapped up the Big Ten regular season with a win at the Big Four meet, scoring a 197.150 to defeat No. 25 Penn State, Iowa and Washington on Sunday evening at Xtream Arena in Coralville.Â
MSU moves to 11-2 overall and finishes Big Ten action with an 8-1 league record, earning its fourth-straight Big Four (previously Big Five) win. The host Hawkeyes finished second with a 196.125, while Washington scored a 195.650 to finish third and Penn State finished fourth with a 195.475. With their 8-1 finish in the B1G, MSU finishes second in the conference alongside Minnesota and earns a spot in the Saturday evening session at the Big Ten Championships later this month.
 Junior Sage Kellerman won vault and tied with senior Gabrielle Stephen for the bars title, while junior Nikki Smith earned top honors on beam and earned a share of the floor title with senior Skyla Schulte.Â
The Spartans started the meet on floor, posting a 49.350 to take a 0.225 lead over second-place Iowa after the first rotation. Schulte and Smith led MSU with matching 9.900s to win a share of the event title with Iowa's Emily Erb and Washington's Emily Innes. The title was Schulte's fourth straight and sixth overall this season while Smith's was her second. Fifth-year senior Delanie Harkness scored a 9.875, Stephen earned a 9.850 and sophomore MaKayla Tucker posted a 9.825.Â
MSU increased its lead to 0.475 after two events with a 49.300. The Spartans took five of the top eight spots on the event, led by a 9.925 from Kellerman in the anchor spot, who secured her vault third title of the season. Junior Olivia Zsarmani finished in a tie for second with a 9.875 and freshman Amy Doyle and Smith tied for fifth with 9.850s. Stephen scored a 9.800 to finish eighth. Â
A 49.475 on bars, the highest event score of the night by any team, pushed MSU's lead to over a full point after three rotations. Stephen and Kellerman scored 9.925s to take the event title, with Stephen tying a season high for her first bars title of the season and Kellerman earning her sixth of 2025. Harkness added a season-high-tying 9.900 to finish in a tie for third. Zsarmani also tied a season-high with a 9.875 and Doyle posted a 9.850.Â
The Spartans put the meet away with a 49.025 on beam in the final rotation. Smith captured the event title, her first of the season on beam, with a season-high 9.925. Schulte finished in second with a 9.900, while fifth-year senior Giana Kalefe led off with a 9.875 and sophomore Emma Misenheimer scored a 9.775 in her first appearance in the beam lineup since Jan. 24.Â
MSU returns to non-conference action on Sunday, March 9 at Elevate the Stage for a quad meet with Alabama, Cal and North Carolina at 5 p.m. ET. The meet will air on ACC Network.Â
