
Spartan Track & Field Sends Small Group to Grand Valley Saturday

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State track & field will stay in the Mitten State to compete in the Grand Valley State Extra Weekend Meet on Saturday, April 26 in Allendale, Michigan.
The Spartans will predominantly focus on the throwers. The women's hammer will get the action going at 12 p.m. Rylan Finstrom will get Michigan State going in the first flight, while Margaret Jones, Jessica Stieb, Janan Khalil, Eriana Hubbard, Valadian Pallett and Elle Adrian will be in the second flight.
The men's hammer will follow with Dalton DeBeau in the first flight. The Spartans will have five in the second flight, including Joshua DeVries, who won the hammer throw at the Virginia Challenge last week with a throw of 63.75m. He is currently 13th in the Big Ten in the hammer throw.
Michigan State continues with the men's and women's shot put. Colby Morlock will compete in the shot put in the second flight. The women's shot put will follow with four Spartans in action. Stieb is coming off a third-place finish at the Virginia Challenge.
MSU will end the field events with the women's and men's discus. Five Spartan women will be in action in flight two of the discus, led by Pallett. In the men's discus, another five MSU athletes will compete. Both Colby and Dillon Morlock will be in the circle in flight two.
The Spartans will have two in action on the track. At 3:10 p.m., the women's 400m hurdles will be in action with Melanie Macias running in the first flight. The men's 400m hurdles will follow with Ben Classen.
Next week, MSU will travel to Columbus for the Jesse Owens Classic, May 2-3.
