MSU Track & Field Earns 16 Event Title at Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – In its only home meet of the seasons, the Michigan State track & field team captured 16 event titles at the 2026 Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational.
In the third meet of the season, several Spartans, including multiple seniors, put forth strong performances in front of a home crowd at Ralph Young Field, Jenison Field House and Munn Field.Â

After a week break, the Spartan head back to North Carolina for the Wake Forest Invitational April 16-17.
Highlights
·      The day started with All-American Elle Adrian finishing first in the hammer throw with a season-best throw of 58.71m. Jessica Stieb finished second with a PR throw of 55.48m. Rylan Finstrom was also fifth in the hammer throw adding another Spartan personal best with a throw of 52.98m.
·      In the men's shot put, the Morlock brothers finished 1-2. Dillon Morlock was first with a best throw of 18.95m, while Colby was second with a throw of 18.32m.
·      The Spartans continued to shine in the field events with Rylan Finstrom earning wins in both the women's shot put and the discus. She had a season best to be victorious in the discus (44.16m), while Jessica Stieb was fourth (41.74m). In the shot put, Finstrom came out on top (15.12m) with Margaret Jones finishing second (13.22m).
·      In the men's hammer, Xavier Griffiths set a personal best to finish third (60.21m). He reached over 60m on his third attempt. Dillon Morlock was fifth with a throw of 58.01m.
·      Dalton DeBeau led the way in the men's discus with a season-best throw of 55.53m. Dillon Morlock made the podium once again with a best throw of 51.27m.
·      Gabrielle Jeffries was second in the long jump (5.67m). In the men's long jump, captured another first-place finish for the Green and White with a season-best jump of 7.25m.
·      Alumni won the pole vault for both the men and women. Trevor Stephenson captured the men's title (5.40m), while Sophia Franklin was first in the women's (4.25m).
·      On the track, Tim Cherry won the 800m for the second-straight season. He set a new personal best with a time of 1:49.61. Jasper Cane was right behind, finishing second with a time of 1:50.92. Noah Sage was fourth (1:53.00). In the women's 800m, Sarah Forsyth had a career-best time of 2:07.86, setting a new PR.
·      Also on the track, Elizabeth Anderson finished first in the 400m with a time of 55.45. Michigan State won both the men's and women's 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
