
MSU Track & Field Splits Squad for a Pair of Meets This Weekend

EAST LANSING, Mich. - For the penultimate weekend of the regular season, the Michigan State track & field team will split and go to the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio and the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky from May 2-3.
At the Jesse Owens Classic, the women's distance squad will be taking center stage. The Spartans top two performers in the 1,500m, Rachel Forsyth and Kate Stewart-Barnett, will both be in action. The 1,500m is set to begin at 5 p.m. on Friday. In the 5,000m, Sarah Forsyth, Olivia Millen and Judith Rector will be among the competitors. The race begins at 6:40 p.m.
On Saturday, Sophia Lucki will be the lone Spartan in the 3,000m steeplechase.
The remainder of the team will be at the Jim Green Invitational. Events will commence on Friday with the women's hammer throw at 2:30 p.m. Elle Adrian and Valadian Pallett are the MSU leaders in the hammer throw. Adrian is 11th in the Big Ten, while Pallett is 15th.
Timothy Cherry, who is 18th in the Big Ten in the 1,500m, will be leading a group of men's distance runners in Lexington. The men's 1,500m will begin at 5:55 p.m. on Friday. Other events on the track on Friday include the men's and women's 400m hurdles, 200m and the 3,000m steeplechase.
On Saturday in Lexington, events on the track begin at 12 p.m. with the women's discus, followed by the men. The men's shot put will also begin at 12 p.m. The first event on the track will be the women's 4x100 relay at 12:40 p.m., followed by the men's.
Next week, Michigan State will conclude the regular season back in the Mitten State at the Len Paddock Invitational in Ann Arbor on May 9. The Big Ten Outdoor Championships will be in Eugene, Oregon for the first time May 16-18.
