
MSU Track & Field Championships Sends 21 Entries to NCAA East First Round

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State Track & Field will send 19 athletes for a total of 21 entries to the NCAA East First Round, which will be contested in Jacksonville, Florida on the campus of the University of North Florida, May 28-31.
Each of the Spartans earned entry by posting an East Region top-48 mark in their respective events during the outdoor season. Athletes finishing within the top 12 in their event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon from June 11-14, where they will meet the top 12 finishers from the West Regional, being held in College Station, Texas.
Michigan State will send the most athletes to the NCAA First Round since 25 were selected in 2019. Last season, the Spartans sent 18, while sending 12 in 2023. Overall, Michigan State will send 10 women and nine men to Florida to compete.Â
Freshman Rachel Forsyth will be in action in both the 1500m and the 5000m. Senior Valadian Pallett will compete in both the discus and the hammer. Senior Kate Stewart-Barnett, who just captured a Big Ten title, is the highest seeded Spartan, standing third in the 3000m steeplechase. Andrew Nolan is the highest seeded male athletes, seeded 11the in the 3000m steeplechase.
