Fears Records Double-Double with Career-High 17 Assists as No. 10 Michigan State Beats Maryland, 91-48

East Lansing, Mich. – Redshirt sophomore guard Jeremy Fears Jr. scored 17 points and handed out a career-best 17 assists as No. 10 Michigan State opened up a 23-point lead at halftime and beat Maryland, 91-48, at the Breslin Center on Saturday afternoon.
Fears scored a game-high 17 points and picked up his fifth double-double of the season with his personal-best 17 assists, tied for the second-most in a single game in program history with Gary Ganakas, who handed out 17 on Dec. 29, 1971 (the school record is 20 by Mateen Cleaves on March 4, 2000 against Michigan).
Four players scored in double figures for the Spartans, as senior center Carson Cooper added 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals, junior forward Coen Carr finished with 14 points and three rebounds and senior forward Jaxon Kohler chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds.
Records
Michigan State, winners of six-straight games, improves to 18-2 overall and 8-1 in the Big Ten Conference, while Maryland falls to 8-12 overall and 1-8 in league play.
