MSU Falls at No. 19 LSU

East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State dropped a 9-0 decision in five innings to homestanding No. 19/17 LSU on Friday.

MSU's third consecutive loss drops its record to 6-5. MSU had just two base hits – Hannah Greer and Kirsten Caravaca each recorded singles, and the Spartans did have four walks vs. three strikeouts, and MSU stranded seven.   Jacey Schuler took the loss with a 2.1 inning outing, surrendering six earned runs and striking out three.Â

After scratching across single runs in each of the first two innings,  No. 19/17 ranked Tigers (8-4) blew open the game with a six-run third inning and put their last run on the board in the bottom of the fourth. LSU had seven hits and left eight batters. Â

Alyssa Galindo came on for the starter Schuler in the third inning, allowing two runs on two hits (one double); Alex Starr got the final out of the third and went the rest of the way for the Spartans in the circle (1.1 innings), hitting one and striking out

LSU ace Jayden Heavener picked up the win to improve to 3-2 on the year. She allowed three hits and struck out three, walking four. Sierra Daniel led the Tigers with a 3-for 4 effort, the only player for either team with multiple base hits.
