What you need to know about Spartan softballÂ
•  Michigan State heads back out on the road for a series at Ohio State this weekend.  OSU hosted a non-conference tournament last weekend and also had a Wednesday midweek against Cal, earning a 10-3 win.  The Buckeyes are 12-18 with a 2-4 record in Big Ten play•  .  The Spartans drew the two highest-ranked Big Ten teams in the conference to start the league season, opening at No. 5 UCLA and hosting No. 9/5 Nebraska in their first two series.  Against the Huskers, the first and final games were tight pitchers' battles, with the Huskers ultimately sweeping the series.Â
•  The Spartans went 13-10 in pre-Big Ten play, the most in-season tournament victories in the four years of Sharonda McDonald-Kelley's tenure.  The Spartans earned wins over two ranked teams (No. 14/16 Virginia Tech and No. 13/12 Auburn) and suffered a 5-4 road loss at No. 19/17 LSU. Â
 •  Green and White batters have already posted eight triples this season, matching their total from 2025. The Spartans are fifth among B1G teams (54th nationally) in that category.  The squad has also smacked 47 doubles through 29 games (10th, Big Ten).  MSU has surpassed its 2025 (43) and 2024 (46) totals in doubles.  Â
•  MSU has turned 15 double plays on the season, which ranks third in the Big Ten and 22nd nationally (0.50/gm) . MSU turned a pair of DP's in the Nebraska series.
•  Zoie Bernard is hitting .263 with four doubles and two RBI over her first six Big Ten contests.  She had doubles in each of the last two games vs. Nebraska.  Overall for the year, Bernard owns or shares the team leads in batting average (.343), slugging (.608), on-base percentage (.427), hits (35), runs scored (21), doubles (11), triples (5), and stolen bases (5-6).  She is second in the Big Ten and third nationally in triples and is third in the league in doubles.
•  Sydney Doloszycki leads the squad with 18 RBI, is second on the team in batting average (.291), and tied for third in base hits.  She is one of just two players in the senior class (along with classmate Britain Beshears) to play all four of her collegiate seasons at Michigan State. Â
•  Hannah Hawley is hitting .261 and leads the team with four homers, is second in slugging (.466) and RBI (17), and is third on the team in base hits (23), doubles (6), and runs (16).  She was one of four players who delivered three base hits at UCLA and had a hit and a pair of walks vs. Nebraska last weekend. Â
• Jacey Schuler started the Tuesday game vs. Toledo in the circle and gave MSU five innings, allowing two unearned runs while scattering five hits and striking out two while facing a season-high 27 batters.  Over MSU's four-game homestand, Schuler started three games, posting a 1.54 ERA over 13.2 innings.  She scattered 19 hits, struck out five, and surrendered just three earned runs (and six overall).  Schuler leads the Spartan staff in starts (13) and wins (4).  She has 17 total appearances, posting a 4.70 ERA (second on the team) in a team-high 50.2 innings.  She has 31 strikeouts.
