This will be MSU's eighth time competing in the event. The Spartans won the Cup in their first two appearances in 2009 and 2011, and since 2021, have missed participating just once (2023).
Both MSU and Indiana are facing their first competition since the Big Ten Invitational Regatta on April 18-19. The crews raced one another in the Sunday session, which featured perhaps the most competitive racing of all three. IU and the Spartans finished third and fourth in the varsity eight race.
This will also be the second time that the Spartans see Tulsa this spring – the crews lined up in the final day of competition at the Sarasota 2K in late March.
Michigan State is coming into the weekend off of a week of final exams, which complete mid-day on Friday. The Spartans will race at the Dale England Cup and then be idle until the Big Ten Championships, which will be held at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis on May 16-17.
