Barbara Powers joined the Spartan hockey staff in the fall of 2016 and currently serves as the director of hockey operations. She is responsible for the coordination of all logistical aspects of the program some of which include team travel, on-campus recruiting and special events.

Prior to joining MSU, Powers worked as the Director of Operations for the University of Tennessee track & field and cross-country programs from 2012-2016.

Powers competed in track and cross country from 2007-2011 at Bowling Green State University where she earned her degree in exercise science. She completed her master’s degree in sport management at the University of Tennessee while serving as a graduate assistant in student- athlete services at the Thornton Academic Center.

Powers comes from a family entrenched in athletics, as her father, Buddy, was a Division I college hockey coach for more than 20 years. He scouted in the in the Dallas Stars organization, and currently serves as the volunteer assistant coach at Bowling Green. Powers’ sister, Caroline Powers Ellis, was a golf All-American at MSU and is now the head women’s golf coach at Notre Dame and her brother, John, is the head men’s golf coach at Bowling Green.
