Darrius Sims joins the Michigan State football staff in 2023 as a defensive analyst.
He previously was a scouting assistant at Vanderbilt in 2022 and became a personnel analyst for the Commodores in 2023 prior to arriving in East Lansing over the summer. Sims assisted the scouting and personnel departments in identifying future players as well as scouting opponents.
A four-year letterwinner as a wide receiver at Vanderbilt (2013-16), Sims played in every game during his career with the Commodores. He was also the team’s return specialist and became the first player in SEC history to return two touchdowns on kickoffs in the same game (100 yards and 91 yards vs. South Carolina on Sept. 20, 2014), earning him SEC Specialist of the Week honors. In addition, he was named to the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2015.
The Memphis, Tennessee, native was a three-year varsity letterwinner and two-time all-state selection at Whitehaven High School and played a prominent role in the school’s first-ever state championship, winning Defensive MVP honors in the 2012 6A state title game.
Sims graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Vanderbilt in 2017.
