MADISON, Wis. -
SPARTAN POST-GAME NOTES:
? Michigan State WR Gari Scott had his string of 31-straight starts snapped vs. Wisconsin. Scott strained his right knee in last week?s game at Purdue. With Scott sidelined, Herb Haygood made his first collegiate start at flanker. Scott?s streak of 31 games with at least one reception was also snapped.
? With his 29-yard rushing effort vs. Wisconsin, TB Lloyd Clemons reached the 1,000-yard mark in his career. Clemons has now gained 1,023 career yards on 193 carries.
? LB Julian Peterson tied MSU?s single-season record for tackles for losses (18) with his first quarter stop of Wisconsin?s Ron Dayne for minus-3 yards.
? PK Paul Edinger?s 55-yard field goal in the second quarter established a career best and marked the fifth longest in Spartan history. The kick also set a new Camp Randall Stadium record. Edinger?s previous long was a 54-yarder earlier this season at Illinois.
? Wisconsin?s Ron Dayne became the first running back to rush for 100 yards against Michigan State this season. Dayne picked up 152 yards on 18 carries and scored twice in the first half. Dayne broke runs of 18 and 51 yards on Wisconsin?s first series ? the longest runs allowed by MSU this year.
? Dayne finished the contest with 214 yards rushing. The last Spartan opponent to rush for over 200 yards was Penn State?s Eric McCoo (206 yards, 11/28/98).
? QB Bill Burke?s string of 11 straight games with at least one touchdown pass was snapped.
? Wisconsin P Kevin Stempke?s 86-yard punt was the longest punt by an opponent in Spartan history. (Previous best ? Phil Vierneisel, Illinois 1974, 85 yards)
? RB T.J. Duckett rushed for a season-high 91 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter ? MSU?s longest rushing TD this season. His 10 rushing attempts also equaled his season best.
