Hockey Ranked Third In Preseason Poll

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's hockey team has been picked third in the nation in the preseason poll released by U.S. College Hockey Online Tuesday.
The Spartans, who won the CCHA regular-season championship last season and advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four, received 291 votes in the poll, trailing only fellow Frozen Four teams Boston College (363) and Maine (302). The Spartans received one first-place vote, while BC had 26.
The U.S. College Hockey Online Poll consists of 40 voters, more than any other college hockey poll, and includes 27 coaches and 13 beat writers.
Michigan State opens its season Tuesday night in an exhibition game against Guelph before visiting No. 8 Colorado College for the season opener on Saturday.
