EAST LANSING, Mich. - Sophomore right wing Adam Hall (Kalamazoo, Mich.) has been named team captain of the 2000 U.S. National Junior Team which will compete in the World Junior Championship Dec. 25 to Jan. 4, 2000, in Sweden.
Hall is the team's lone captain and the second Spartan in three years to serve as Team USA's captain (Mike York in 1998). He is joined on this year's team by MSU freshman defenseman John-Michael Liles.
Hall played for Team USA in last year's World Junior Championship and is a former teammate of many of the current players from the U.S. Under-18 Team in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he spent one season prior to attending Michigan State.
Hall currently leads Michigan State in goals (14) and is second in points (21). He stands third nationally in goals.
The 2000 U.S. National Junior Team was introduced between periods at Wednesday night's New York Rangers-Los Angeles Kings game (in which York scored his NHL-rookie-leading ninth goal). Hall and Liles will miss the Great Lakes Invitational while with Team USA but will be back in time for the Jan. 7 game against Michigan.
