Hockey Ranked Fifth Or Seventh In National Polls

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's hockey team is ranked fifth in this week's U.S. College Hockey Online Poll and seventh in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine coaches poll.
The Spartans, who split against Notre Dame last weekend, are 12-5-0 overall (11-3-0 CCHA). They are in first place in the CCHA, three points ahead of second-place Northern Michigan.
Previous No. 1 Maine was swept by Northeastern last weekend and dropped in both polls, with North Dakota taking over the top spot.
Michigan State hosts Alabama-Huntsville this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Munn Ice Arena. The game is the Spartans' final contest before a two-week holiday break preceding the Great Lakes Invitational. MSU meets Michigan Tech in the opener of this year's GLI at Joe Louis Arena Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 7:30 p.m. The third-place and championship games are set for 4 and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30.
