The Spartans' Sedrick Irvin recorded his 12th career game of 100 or more rushing yards this afternoon, finishing with 107 yards in 21 carries. Irvin moved into fifth place on the school's all-time rushing list this afternoon and now has 2,749 yards. Irvin started today in seventh place amond moved ahead of Eric Allen (2,654 yards) and Steve Smith (2,676 yards).
MSU quarterback Bill Burke established a personal best with 17 pass completions this afternoon. His previous best was 16 completions against Oregon earlier this season. Burke went over the 100 career pass completions mark this afternoon and now has 103 in his career. He is 20 completions shy of tying for 13th place on the school's all-time list.
Sedrick Irvin totaled 197 all-purpose yards this afternoon, upping his career mark to 3,927. He is just 20 yards from moving passing Courtney Hawkins' mark of 3,946 and move into seventh place on the school's all-time chart.
Aric Morris' first-quarter interception was his second of the year. MSU has interceptions in three of four games this year.
Paul Edinger's 43-yard field goal in the first quarter tied his career high set last season against Washington in the Aloha Bowl.
Anthony Thomas' 69-yard TD run in the first quarter for the Wolverines was the longest run from scrimmage against a Spartan team since 1995 when James Sims from Nebraska sprinted 80 yards.
MSU's 14 first downs tied a season low (14 vs. Colorado State).
Sedrick Irvin's 40-yard run in the first quarter was his foruth-longest run as a Spartan. Last season, Irvin had 56 and 51 yard-runs against Indiana while in 1996 he had a 52-yard dash against Eastern Michigan.
