EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan State Athletic Department released football ticket prices for the 1999 and 2000 seasons Wednesday. The across-the-board increase, $3 or less per ticket for season-ticket holders, marks the first price change for MSU football tickets since 1997.
Season tickets are priced at $168 for the general public ($28 per game), $134 for faculty/staff ($22.33 per game) and $84 for MSU students ($14 per game). Family Plan season tickets are listed at $108 ($18 per game).
"This marks the first price increase for football tickets in two years," MSU Athletics Director Merritt J. Norvell Jr. said, "and the operating costs to compete at this level continue to rise.
"This pricing structure is certainly in line with other Big Ten institutions and it will help provide revenue to the department so Michigan State can remain competitive in the nation's premier athletic conference. Part of this revenue will go toward maintaining the infrastructure of Spartan Stadium."
Michigan State's 1999 home schedule features non-conference foes Oregon (Sept. 2) and Eastern Michigan (Sept. 11) plus Big Ten rivals Iowa (Oct. 2), Michigan (Oct. 9), Ohio State (Nov. 6) and Penn State (Nov. 20).
Single-game tickets for Oregon, Eastern Michigan, Iowa and Penn State are priced at $32 for the general public while single-game tickets for Michigan and Ohio State are listed at $38.
Renewal forms will be mailed to season-ticket holders in April. Season tickets will go on sale for the general public in May.
