Volleyball Takes European Vacation

The Michigan State volleyball team leaves for Europe on May 31 to play matches against club teams througout the continent. The Spartans arrive in Amsterdam on June 1 and immediately depart for Lichtenvoorde, The Netherlands where they will train. The team will be traveling throughout Europe on a specially equipped bus. The trip culminates in Paris, France on June 19.
MSU opens its European competition with a tournament in Lichtenvoorde on June 2 against Pelgrim Volco, Longa and Sleidrecht Sport. The team then travels to Copenhagen, Denmark, for matches on June 4 and June 5. Next stop is Berlin, Germany where MSU meets the German Junior National Team for a pair of matches on June 7-8. The bus rolls on to Prague, Czech Republic, with a competition scheduled for June 9, and then Munich, Germany, where the team next competes on June 13. With a little built-in flexibility, the team travels to Switzerland and then to Paris, France, where the Spartans depart for home on June 19.
Team members traveling include: Vicki Basil, Christie Landry, Angela Morley, Kyla Smith, Lisa Ashton, Jessica Sanborn, Erin Hartley, Maren Witzel, Emily Engel, Sarah Gustin, Elissa Malthaner, Nicole Allen, Tammy Vonderheide and Kayleen Cook.
