MSU Men's Golf Fourth At Nebraska Tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. - A balanced attack propelled the Michigan State men's golf team into fourth place after the first day of the Fairway Club Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska. The Spartans amassed a collective opening-round score of 603, seven strokes off the pace of current leader Missouri and just behind second-place North Carolina-Charlotte (600) and third-place Sam Houston State (601).
The MSU quintet opened the tournament by shooting scores within eight strokes of each other. Sophomore John Koskinen is tied for 14th overall after firing a 74-75--149 at the par-71 Firethorn Golf Club. Eric Jorgensen recorded a 77-73--150 and currently sits in a tie for 19th place. Senior Brent Goik is tied for 23rd with 79-73--152. Junior Nathan Clark (74-81--155) and senior Dennis Riedel (78-79--157) round out the Spartan contingent. Kansas State's Bryan Milberger tops the leader board with an opening-round 74-69--143.
The tournament concludes tomorrow.
