EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's Duncan Keith (Penticton, B.C.) has been named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week for Oct. 22.
The freshman defenseman contributed a pair of assists in the Spartans' 2-0 win over Ferris State Saturday (Oct. 20). Keith shares the team lead in scoring with 1-5--6 in four games and paces MSU with a +5 plus-minus rating. He ranks tied for ninth in the CCHA in points and is tied for second among conference defensemen in scoring with fellow Spartan Brad Fast. Keith also leads CCHA rookies in scoring, a distinction he shares with teammate Jim Slater.
Nebraska-Omaha's Jeff Hoggan was named CCHA Offensive Player of the Week. Craig Kowalski of Northern Michigan was honored as the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
MSU hits the road for the first time this season when they travel to Nebraska-Omaha for a key CCHA series against the Mavericks Friday-Saturday, Oct. 26-27. Faceoff is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET both nights.
