Miller Earns CCHA Weekly Honor

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's Ryan Miller (East Lansing, Mich.) has been named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 19.
The junior goaltender recorded back-to-back shutouts as the Spartans posted a series sweep against Miami at Munn Ice Arena last weekend. Miller made 23 saves in Friday's 3-0 MSU win, then turned aside all 28 shots he faced in a 2-0 victory the following night. The 2001 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner now has five shutouts on the season and an NCAA-record 23 for his career.
Miller currently leads the CCHA and ranks sixth nationally with a 1.49 goals against average in addition to an 8-2-1 record and a .937 saves percentage. In the month of November, Miller is 5-0-0 with a 0.82 goals against average and a .969 saves percentage.
Ferris State's Chris Kunitz was named CCHA Offensive Player of the Week. Eric Nystrom of Michigan was honored as the league's Rookie of the Week.
