Spartan Wrestling Inks Three To National Letters Of Intent

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State head wrestling coach Tom Minkel has announced that three wrestlers have signed National Letters of Intent to attend MSU next fall and join the Spartan wrestling program for the 2003-04 season.
The signees include Ryan Froese (Howard City, Mich./Howard City High School), Guy Gibson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas High School) and Joe Wood (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston High School).
RYAN FROESE (Howard City, Mich./Howard City High School)
Will wrestle at 133 pounds ... A two-time Michigan High School State Champion ... Compiled a 42-12 record and placed fourth at the state championships his freshman year ... Captured state crowns in both his sophomore and junior seasons and collected a 110-6 record during that span ... Earned All-America honors at the Junior National Championships in 2002 with a seventh-place finish.
GUY GIBSON (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas High School)
Will wrestle at either 125 or 133 pounds ... Three-time Florida High School State Champion ... Accumulated a 33-3 record his freshman season ... Undefeated his sophomore and junior campaigns with records of 38-0 and 41-0, repsectively ... Finished second at the NHSCA National Tournament in 2001.
JOE WOOD (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston High School)
Will compete in the heavyweight division ... Currently ranked 16th nationally for heavyweights ... Finished fifth at the state championships with a 45-10 record his junior year.
