Trannon Sidelined for 2002 Football Season

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State freshman wide receiver Matt Trannon has been declared academically ineligible for the 2002 season. The NCAA Clearinghouse informed MSU officials Friday, Sept. 6 that Trannon does not meet NCAA initial eligibility requirements. Under NCAA rules, Trannon is prohibited from receiving financial aid, practicing and competing his freshman year. The 6-foot-6, 203-pounder from Flint, Mich., plans to remain enrolled at Michigan State.
