Dominic Vicari Earns CCHA Rookie Of The Week Honors

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - Michigan State freshman netminder Dominic Vicari (Clinton Township, Mich.) was selected as the CCHA Rookie of the Week Nov. 17 following his performance in MSU's split at Miami (Nov. 14-15). In Friday's 4-2 loss, Vicari stopped a career-best 38 shots, including 19 in the opening stanza, 11 in the second and eight in the third period. His Friday performance earned him No. 3 star of the game honors. He kicked out 28-of-29 shots in Saturday's 3-1 win en route to No. 1 star of the game honors. The RedHawks' lone goal was a power-play marker with 1:33 remaining.
It marked the first time in his career he has earned CCHA Rookie of the Week honors.
In his last five starts, Vicari has posted a 4-1 mark, along with a 1.80 GAA and a .932 saves percentage. Four of the nine goals that he has given up have been power-play markers.
For the season, he has posted a 4-3 mark, along with a 2.44 GAA and a .904 saves percentage. He ranks 21st in the nation in GAA and 33rd in saves percentage. In league games only, Vicari is 4-2 with a 2.17 GAA and a .915 saves percentage.
Michigan State (7-4-1 overall, 6-3-1 CCHA) meets Wayne State (2-4-2 overall, 1-3-0 CHA) in a two-game non-conference tilt this Thursday-Friday, Nov. 20-21. Thursday's game faces off at 7:05 p.m., while on Friday the puck will drop at 7:35 p.m.
