? The win over South Florida gives the Spartans a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series against the Bulls. MSU has now won 77 of its last 82 regular season games at the Breslin Center.
? Michigan State opened the game with an 18-4 run. Last year against South Florida, the Spartans jumped to a 22-4 lead.
? Tonight's game marked the first contest since the beginning of the 2001-02 season in which neither Alan Anderson nor Kelvin Torbert has started.
? The Spartans' 50 percent field goal shooting is a team-best this season. The previous high was 49 percent at Kansas on Nov. 25.
? Paul Davis netted the first double-double of his career with 12 points and 11 rebounds. The 11 rebounds is also a career-high - his previous career high was nine, which he accomplished on three different occasions.
? Michigan State's five players in double figures marks the first time since Dec. 17, 2002 against Loyola that at least five players have scored in double-digits. MSU won against Loyola, 80-54 that night That game also marked the eighth game of the 2002 season while tonight's game was the Spartans' eighth game of the 2003 season.
? MSU closed the first half on an 18-1 run over the final 6:25 while USF opened the second half on a 15-1 spurt over the first 4:36.
