Hockey Ranked 14th In USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Poll

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State hockey (15-12-1 overall, 11-6-1 CCHA) has moved back into the national polls, coming in at No. 14 in this week's USA Today/American Hockey Magazine. It is MSU's first appearance in the national polls since Nov. 17, 2003, when MSU was ranked No. 14.
In the Jan. 26 USCHO.com poll, State received 61 votes which would place them at 17th. Ohio is No. 15 in the poll with 66 votes, while UMass would be 16th with 65 votes. The last time MSU was ranked in the USCHO.com poll was Nov. 17, 2003 when State came in at No. 14.
North Dakota earned the top spot in both polls. Boston College, Michigan, Maine and Minnesota round out the top-five teams in both polls.
Michigan State faces CCHA leader Miami (14-9-3 overall, 11-5-2 CCHA) at Munn Ice Arena this Friday-Saturday (Jan. 30-31). The Spartans are tied for second with Michigan in league play and sit just one point behind first-place Miami.
