Big Ten Announces Winter Academic All-Conference Teams

EAST LANSING, Mich. - As the winter term of the 2005-06 school year comes to a close, the Big Ten recognizes a total of 433 winter sports student-athletes who have been named to the Academic All-Conference Team. Forty-five student-athletes from Michigan State made the winter 2006 list in the sports of men's basketball (3), women's basketball (6), women's gymnastics (4), men's swimming and diving (7), women's swimming and diving (19) and wrestling (6). The 19 women's swimming and diving honorees were the most for any Big Ten school in that sport. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, athletes must be letterwinners in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better.
