Spring Preview: Running Backs

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Perhaps the greatest challenge on offense is filling the shoes of Doak Walker Award finalist and consensus All-American Javon Ringer, who rushed for 1,637 yards and a school-record 22 touchdowns in 2008. Ringer accounted for 97 percent of the team's rushing yards and 76 percent of its carries last season.

Three lettermen - A.J. Jimmerson, Andre Anderson and Ashton Leggett - along with red-shirt freshman Caulton Ray expect to get plenty of carries this spring. The Spartans also return two experienced fullbacks in Andrew Hawken and Josh Rouse.
