East Lansing, Mich. - On Tuesday afternoon at Munn Ice Arena, the Spartan coaches and players were available to the media in a session that kicked off the 2009-10 hockey season.
Fans can get their first extended look at the Spartans this weekend. The first official full practice of the season will be Saturday morning at Munn Arena at 8 a.m. This practice session is open to all fans - with a young team, it will be a great chance to take a slight break from tailgating before the Michigan State-Michigan football game and get a peek at the new and returning Spartan icers. Sunday will be the annual Green and White game (7 p.m.), followed by an exhibition game on Monday against Western Ontario (7 p.m.)
Head coach Rick Comley addressed the media and took questions for almost 30 minutes, followed by co-captains Jeff Petry and and Nick Sucharski, goaltender Drew Palmisano, and junior Corey Tropp. Following the formal interviews, the media assembled on the benches for informal one-on-one interviews with Spartan athletes. Meanwhile, the players had individual pictures taken as well as their video headshots for the videoboard at Munn Arena, then finally assembled for the team picture as well as class photos.
