EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State volleyball team will have its entire home schedule aired live on SpartanSportsNetwork.com this season. Each broadcast will be free of charge, beginning with MSU's first home match against St. John's on Friday, Sept. 2 at 4:30 p.m.
Returning for his 11th season as the voice of Spartan volleyball is John Kreger. Kreger provides radio broadcasts for the Spartans via msuspartans.com for home contests. In addition to broadcasting MSU volleyball, he has also spent time as the play-by-play voice for women's basketball and served as a post-game show host for men's basketball. In 2008, Kreger was honored as the top volleyball broadcaster in the nation by the AVCA.
In addition to his duties with the Michigan State athletics, Kreger is an accomplished sports radio engineer and producer. He currently is a reporter and producer for Sports Radio 1130 WDFN in Detroit. He also serves as an engineer for visiting sports teams that compete in the Detroit market and covers the Detroit Lions for ESPN radio and ESPN News, as well as CBS Sports. His career highlights include working the 2005 Major League Baseball All-Star Week for ESPN Radio, the 2005 NBA Finals and the 2006 American League Championship Series. Kreger also worked for the Detroit Lions Radio Network from 2003-07 and served as a Detroit reporter for Fox Sports Radio and the Associated Press.
In addition to the free audio stream on SpartanSportsNetwork.com, the matches will also be available on the free Spartan Sports Network Mobile App. In the fall, Spartan Sports Network teamed up with JacAPPS to have the app available for the iPhone, iPad and Android devices. The application features live streaming of Michigan State broadcasts, along with coaches shows, feature programming, highlights, archives, social connectivity and more.
