EAST LANSING, Mich. - Withstanding hot and humid temperatures, the Michigan State men's golf opened the 2011-12 season on Saturday by hosting the 2011 Fossum Invitational. The Spartans shot a two round score of 10-over par 586 (293-293) at Forest Akers West, to lead the field by three shots entering tomorrow's final round.
"Overall it was a day of discovery for our staff and players as we were learning on the fly," said head coach Casey Lubahn, who made his debut as Spartan head coach on Saturday. "I was our proud of their attention to detail and their effort level. We are going to have to stay positive and avoid mental mistakes, especially on the scoreable holes.
It feels great to coach alongside Ryan Brehm back here at Forest Akers and I look forward to continuing the process tomorrow."
