East Lansing, Mich. - Senior netminder Drew Palmisano (Ann Arbor, Mich.) has been named the CCHA Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the conference office earlier today.
Palmisano picked up his second CCHA Goaltender of the Week award this season. Palmisano set a new Great Lakes Invitational record by making 90 saves over two games, stopping 90 of 94 shots faced (.957) with a 1.82 GAA. Palmisano made 45 stops each night, as the Spartans dropped the GLI final game in a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime decision to Michigan. Palmisano was one short of his career-best of 46 saves each night; his career high came against Michigan as a freshman.
Palmisano was previously named the Goaltender of the Week on Nov. 28, after the Spartans won and tied then-No. 2/3 Minnesota.
Michigan State, the consensus No. 15 team in the country this week, returns to action at Munn Ice Arena with a two-game series against Miami. These are the first two of six straight home games for the Spartans, all against conference foes.
