
Spartans Sweep Weekly Big Ten Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Joe Cox, Thomas Ebbing and Ryan Keller were named the Big Ten's First, Second and Third Stars of the week, respectively, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday. All three players recorded multiple points and registered their first goals of the season in the 6-4 victory over Clarkson on Dec. 14.
Cox was named the Big Ten First Star of the Week after tallying a career-high three points in MSU's 6-4 win over Clarkson. The sophomore scored two goals over a 1:51 stretch in the second period to give the Spartans a 4-3 lead. Just 1:22 after scoring his second goal, Cox assisted on Ebbing's goal.
Ebbing netted the eventual game-winning tally and also picked up assists on goals by Cox and Keller. The three-point game was a career best for the native of Troy.
Keller sealed the Spartan win by scoring the final goal in Sunday's game. The Farmington Hills product picked up an assist on the first MSU goal, giving him his second career two-point game.
The weekly conference honor was the first for all three players. It also marks the first time that players from the same school have claimed the first, second and third star spots in the same week.
Michigan State returns to action on Dec. 28 when it faces Ferris State in the Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena.
