Spartans Participate in Big Ten Hockey Media Day

EAST LANSING - The 2014 Big Ten Hockey Media Day took place on Wednesday in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena, site of the 2015 Big Ten Tournament. Head coach Tom Anastos, junior goaltender Jake Hildebrand and junior captain Michael Ferrantino joined their counterparts from around the league to take part in TV interviews and meet with local and national media.

Hildebrand and Berry Named to Preseason Watch List
Hildebrand and senior forward Matt Berry were both named to the Players to Watch List. In total, 16 student-athletes were named to the list, which was selected by the coaches.
Hildebrand was MSU's team MVP last season and also earned All-Big Ten honorable mention. He allowed two goals or fewer in 21 of 32 appearances, posting a 2.44 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.
Berry produced 17 points (10g, 7a) in 23 games as a junior last season. His eight goals in Big Ten play were a team high and fourth among all skaters in the league.
The Spartans were picked fifth in the preseason coaches' poll, while Minnesota was picked to win the league. Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio State followed in second through fourth, respectively, while Penn State was picked sixth.
Spartans and Wolverines to Meet at Joe Louis Arena on Jan. 30, 2015
Michigan State and Michigan will meet at Joe Louis Arena on Jan. 30, 2015, it was announced by Olympia Entertainment and the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday. The two teams have met at "The Joe" each year since 1990. Tickets for the event will be available through the Spartan ticket office.
Coming Up
The Spartans will play the Green and White game on Oct. 5 and then host the University of Windsor on Oct. 7 in an exhibition contest. MSU will play its first regular season games Oct. 17-18 when it hosts UMass at Munn Ice Arena.
