Ten Spartans Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors

Ryan Watts was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team for the third year in a row.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Ten members of the Michigan State wrestling team have earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced this week.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten consideration, student-athletes must earn a varsity letter, be in at least their second academic year at a Big Ten institution and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Joe Johnson, a finance major, led the way with a perfect 4.0 GPA and was one of seven Big Ten student-athletes to be recognized with a 4.0 GPA.
In addition, Kevin Nash and Ryan Watts were Academic All-Big Ten honorees for the third straight year, while Luke Jones, Nick McDiarmid, Nick Trimble, and Garth Yenter were repeat selections. Josh Pennell, Kaelan Richards and Mitch Rogaliner were first-time selections.
Michigan State ranked tied for second among Big Ten schools, along with Iowa and Nebraska, with 10 wrestlers on the 2014-15 Academic All-Big Ten Team.
