EAST LANSING, Mich. - As the Michigan State football team begins spring practice this week, relive some of the top moments from the 2015 season. In the second installment, msuspartans.com counts down the top defensive plays of the year.
2015 - TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYS/MOMENTS OF THE YEAR
1. "Spartans Shut It Down in Columbus" - Spartans hold OSU to season lows in rushing, passing, total offense and first downs.
2. "Defense Flexes Its Muscle" - MSU limits Wolverines to season lows in total yards and rush yards.
3. "Shilique Makes His Mark" - Shilique Calhoun named second-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten for third time.
4. "Standing Strong in Indy" - Defense leads way for Spartans to capture second Big Ten title in three years.
5. "Big Stops vs. Oregon" - Spartans overcome Ducks' high-powered offense for Top-10 win.
6. "TDs vs. Penn State" - Defense scores two TDs against Penn State to secure B1G East Division title
7. "Malik's Big Day" - McDowell named B1G Defensive Player of the Week with career-high 4.5 tackles for loss.
8. "Williamson Named National Defensive Player of the Week" - RJ Williamson's five tackles, interception and fumble recovery for TD earns him national honors.
9. "Bullough's Pick Six" - Riley Bullough returns interception 44 yards for a Spartan score vs. Maryland
10. "First Career INTs" - A number of Spartans earn their first career interceptions in 2015.
